Unit 1: Creating a Good Experiment
Period 3 Table 3
Riley, Steffanie, Jahaira, Jumires
Description of Wiki:
In Unit 1, we learned the process of creating and preforming a good experiment. We learned how to create a great hypothesis, how to collect and analyze data correctly, how to create a good experiment, and how to write our conclusion in the correct way. We learned how to eliminate "I think" from our hypothesis, how to be detailed and support our thesis, how to be detailed enough to create an experiment, eliminating outliers, analyzing graphs correctly, and how to create a conclusion to wrap up the entire experiment in a short manner. Now, we will have to apply all of our knowledge on experiments to create our Rubber Band Trajectory.
8th Grade Science Standards Covered:
Scientific progress is made by asking meaningful questions and conducting careful investigations. As a basis for understanding this concept and addressing the content in the other three strands, students should develop their own questions and perform investigations. Students will:
- Plan and conduct a scientific investigation to test a hypothesis.
- Evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of data.
- Distinguish between variable and controlled parameters in a test.
- Construct appropriate graphs from data and develop quantitative statements about the relationships between variables.
